ON CALL

The average girls' night out takes four days, six hours and 33 minutes to organise, a study found yesterday (Thur).

Women will exchange 12 text messages, four phone calls, three emails and a Facebook posting before they even get-together.

And two calls will be made on the night - because someone is running late.

It also emerged girls meet up twice a month - which means a total of 40 electronic messages are exchanged either by phone or computer to arrange the event..

A spokesperson from www.phonepiggybank.com, who commissioned the poll, said: ''Girls are notorious for always being on the phone but this study shows just how many forms of communication it takes to arrange a typical night out.

''Phones are total lifelines when it comes to sorting out a gathering and our research proves just how readily girls use them to arrange their social calendars.

''Gone are the days of agreeing a time and place and just turning up - girls like to have commentary every step of the way whether it's discussing exact itineraries, what they're going to wear or how they're going to get there.

''And even while they are out, the phone is usually displayed on the pub table to catch any messages coming in.''

The survey of 3,000 women also revealed the average girly night out now mainly consists of four ladies flirting, dancing around handbags and gossiping in the toilets, it emerged yesterday.

Researchers also found while the average girly night will last five hours and 19 minutes, almost 45 minutes of that will be spent flirting with two different guys.

A further 55 minutes is taken up with the girls strutting their stuff on the dance floor.

But the biggest chunk of the night is spent gossiping - with 105 minutes spent talking about sex or discussing female friends and colleagues.

And girls will also spend 54 minutes giggling and an hour and 22 minutes eating and drinking.

This leaves 38 minutes for queuing to get in to clubs, waiting for taxi and getting to and from their night on the town.
