Kate Moss was yesterday (Fri) hailed as the most imitated fashion icon.
The trend-setting supermodel has hit the headlines more for her hard-partying and relationship with pop bad boy Pete Doherty then for her catwalk prowess recently.
But she is still solely responsible for the popularity of several fashion necessities including skinny jeans, Ugg boots and the waistcoat.
Her rock-chick style is so popular that High Street chain Topshop launched a range of clothes designed by Kate in May 2007.
The 35-year-old Croydon-born beauty beat Victoria Beckham to claim the title, with Cheryl Cole, who has dazzled on the X-Factor in slinky designer dresses, in third.
Sienna Miller, whose style saw her accused of copying Kate Moss, was at number four, while petite pop princess Kylie Minogue completed the top five.
A spokesman for www.theragtrader.com, which carried out the poll of 3,000 women, said: ''Kate Moss started the Boho chic and is now pioneering the rock-chick look with her new hair style and clothes that blend well with the music crowd she parties with.
''She seems to effortlessly put outfits together, leaving a hoard of women trying to copy her eclectic look.
''Whether she's sporting skinny jeans and ugg boots or dressed up in a vintage frock - she always looks incredibly stylish as well as having the ability to continually create new trends.
''Victoria Beckham is another celebrity who isn't afraid of flaunting daring new looks on a regular basis - her hair in particular is a source of constant interest from the ''pob'' she sported last year to the pixie crop she has now.''
The poll revealed David Beckham as the celebrity men are most likely to copy thanks to his mix of sharp suits and casual jeans and t-shirts.
Former England captain Becks came top despite several fashion disasters, including the infamous sarong and admitting he wears wife Victoria's underwear.
Second place went to singer Justin Timberlake - followed by Hollywood heartthrob Brad Pitt.
Russell Brand's outlandish and distinctive style saw him voted in at number four while James Bond actor Daniel Craig was fifth.
Researchers discovered 14 per cent of Brits regularly try to copy their favourite celebrity, with 11 per cent even admitting to going to a particular shop just because a star goes there.
But celebrities don't influence everyone as 20 per cent of Brits say they avoid wearing an outfit or brand because it's associated with a celeb they don't like.
A spokesman for www.theragtraders.com added: ''Like Victoria, David Beckham is constantly reinventing his look and has an army of followers wanting to copy his style.
''Justin Timberlake is certainly a snappy dresser too and worthy in second place.''
